Dewey L. Carter was established in 1981 and is a community rural school located in Effingham, SC, that excels and strives to meet our students’ varying needs each day. We desire and guide our students to excel in academics, develop a love for learning through experiences, and live life to its fullest potential. Our school, established in 1981, is comprised of close to 600 students from 4K – 5th grade and we also have approximately 90 dedicated staff members, many of whom attended Dewey L. Carter, thus our rich tradition of family and community continues. Our staff models integrity and demonstrates a love for learning and our children each day and are fully committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students.

Hi! My name is Lindsay Cole. It is truly an honor to step into the role of principal at Dewey L. Carter Elementary School after serving as assistant principal alongside our incredible students, staff, and families. Dewey L. Carter has always felt like family to me, and I am excited to continue building strong community partnerships, encouraging family involvement, and supporting high levels of student achievement. I look forward to an exciting school year ahead!
I am absolutely thrilled to return to Dewey L. Carter as your new Assistant Principal. Having been a part of this wonderful community six years ago, this school has always held a special place in my heart.
