Mrs. Pettis
I began my school counseling career in 2009 and have worked at the high school and elementary school level. I came to Dewey Carter in 2020 and I am so excited for this school year!
I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education in School Counseling both from Winthrop University.
My goal as a school guidance counselor is to help every student reach their highest potential and to foster social and emotional learning through classroom guidance lessons, small groups as well as individual counseling.
Outside of school I love spending time with my husband and little girl. I also enjoy shopping and traveling.

Ms. Verner
My name is Myrtle Verner and I am fortunate to be a part of this wonderful family at Dewey Carter. I graduated from Francis Marion University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology and Webster University with a Dual Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling and Human Resource Development. I have been working in the counseling field for 16 years. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, meeting new people, and exercising. The highlight of my life is my beautiful daughter Myla Belle. My purpose as a School Based Therapist is to provide skills, support, and encouragement; in addition to individualized interventions and accommodations to ensure that no child is left behind. I believe that all children are special and should be treated that way. School Based Therapy Services are available during the school day, are strictly confidential, and require parental consent. Referrals are needed for services. Referrals can be made by parents, teachers, or administrators.
